“What are you trying to prove?”

That was the question that began my unlearning of several decades.

I’ve spent most of my life striving and accomplishing, trying to prove my worth. Seeking external validation. Taking well-worn paths hoping to fast track success. And when the going got rough, forcing my way through. This approach worked for a while.

Until it didn’t. Life crashed and burned in 2017, when I realized I loathed my work as a litigator and who I had become. I quit with nothing lined up, moved home with my parents, and called it a sabbatical.

During that time, I worked with a career coach who saved my life. That might sound dramatic, but it’s true. I went to her thinking I simply needed a new job to fix my life. She helped me see that what I actually wanted was a new way of being.

The coach introduced me to energy leadership, the power of conscious choice, and true self-worth. She also supported me through my job search. I came out on the other side in higher education, counseling law students on their careers and anything else they’d like to discuss.

My counseling work led me to pursue professional coach certification, as I wanted additional tools to support my students. Through this training, I learned what the coach had done to help me transform. I now get to do the same for others with my own spin and perspective.

Coaching — getting coached, learning to coach, being a coach — profoundly changed me as a person and my daily reality. I feel so fortunate for my continued evolution. It’s a relief to be me wherever I am and in all that I do. It’s a joy to help others come into their own.

In my free time, you’ll find me in nature, meditating, and exploring anything curious and meaningful.
